Forestry Scholarships (Forestry Science and Forest Engineering)

The Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) is offering four scholarships for the 2019 academic year for qualifying Māori and female students enrolling in the Bachelor of Forestry Science or Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Forest Engineering at the University of Canterbury.

This will increase to 18 scholarships over the next three years.

Applications are open now until 31 August 2018.

The new Forestry Scholarships – Ngā Karahipi Uru Rākau – aim to grow the capability of the forestry sector and increase the number of women and Māori in the industry.

Successful winners will receive:
– $8,000 a year for 4 years (the length of the degree) to help with tuition fees and living costs, and
– a paid internship with Te Uru Rākau (Forestry New Zealand) or another forestry employer.
